The versatility of springs is evident in the broad range of applications in which they are used from heavy-duty garage doors to precision medical devices. Springs are manufactured in a broad range of sizes and configurations to meet a wide variety of needs.

Considering the vast and varied amount of spring applications, it might be surprising to learn that springs are most commonly made from only six basic types of materials:

• Music wire
• Hard drawn MB
• Oil tempered wire
• Stainless steel 302
• Phosphor bronze
• Brass

These six types of spring materials each offer specific and unique characteristics that are well-suited to particular applications and work environments.
