Conical Compression Springs

Conical compression springs as the name depicts are shaped like a cone, where one end has a larger OD than the other. Many customers chose a cone shaped spring because of its better stability, smaller solid heights and fewer tendencies to buckle. And I like to think because of its fun shape.

But as usual these benefits come at a cost. It is much more difficult to design and manufacture a cone shape than a linear one. Typically, conical springs take more machine set up time and special tooling to coil.  Grinding these springs can also be very problematic since the ends have different ODs. So be prepared to pay more and wait longer if considering a conical spring. To request a quote for a conical spring please feel free to call 859-581-7600 or email [email protected].
